The Kano State Public Complaint and Anti Corruption Commission has described as fake news, the purported report that a Gorilla swallowed N6.8million realized at Kano Zoological Garden as gate fees from some fun seekers during last Sallah celebration.

Giving account of the preliminary investigation into the matter, Chairman of the Commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado told Correspondent Journalists that contrary to the circulating Gorilla report, the case was a robbery attack.

According to the Chairman of the State Anti-Corruption Agency, some hoodlums attacked the Zoo on the 9th of June, tight the security men and eventually carted away the money kept inside a safe within the Zoo premises.

He said aside the robbery attack; the commission is now interested in investigating the activities of the Zoo and the poor welfare of the animals in particular to ascertain how the allocated funds are being managed without prioritizing the animals’ welfare.
